Q: What would you do if your I.D. had been stolen and you had no money to replace it? And what if you had no photocopies of your I.D. stored in a drawer at home... because you had no home?
In the past year, there were close to 1,760 different people who walked through the heavy, glass door of Fred Victor’s Queen and Jarvis Centre to use the Open House Drop-In. Many of them had no money, some of them had no I.D.
The Open House creates safe, welcoming, off-the-street access to much-needed services for homeless and low-income people. Here are the essential services you find at Fred Victor’s Open House Drop-in Programs:

* Replace your I.D. at no cost * Open a bank account, hassle-free, at Alterna Credit Union * Plan a community event with the “Knights of the Square Table” — table talk for Open House participants * Write a story or poem for The Beyond the Horizon Newsletter — an informative, humourous, sometimes gritty publication written by Open House participants *Get gently-used clothing *Purchase low-cost fresh fruits and veggies through the Good Food Box
